Flirty chat request

With the new scam making its rounds on Tinder, bots match with users then begin flirty chats that say things like which is just random enough to sound like a cheesy opening line. Then, after a series of messages with the potential victim, the bot will ask the user if they’re verified on Tinder.Reporting a user for spam or inappropriate conduct is straightforward and easy to do.On any given profile, users can tap the ‘3 dots’ icon and select ‘Report’.“What makes this particular spam operation unique is that it’s not trying to drive users directly to an adult webcam or dating site overtly, but it’s using the premise of the safety element to convince a user that he should be verified first before they meet,” says Narang.Reached for comment, a Tinder spokesperson offered the following statement: Tinder will never ask users to verify through a third party website, download link, or app. Trump treats women and the message it sent about the attitude toward women as professionals in their fields.

And when a female (bot) asks the male (victim) if he’s verified, he may be more interested in following through to do so, because it could lead to a date.

Profiles and users promoting any type of third-party verification or requesting personal, financial information and/or payment violate our terms of service, and we have a system in place to remove these profiles from the app.

If a user encounters a profile violating our terms, we encourage them to report it immediately within the app.

Adding to the confusion with regard to the Tinder bots, is the fact that Tinder, too, offers a verification process of its own.

However, it’s not something that’s open to everyone – only celebrities and other notable figures are verified and only because people would otherwise assume their profiles are fake.
