, Our hotel has responded to the review Dear marilyn s., We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Novotel Southampton.I am extremely sorry about the way you were spoken to and the low level of service provided. I will share your comments with our team for corrective action in housekeeping and reception.Luckily we stopped one of the cleaners in the corridor and got a fan from her. Rooms adequate but starting to look like they need a refurb.Customer service compares poorly with Premier Inn where the fan is already in your room and switched on when you arrive. Bed, typical for a hotel, great for heavy people but a little too firm for 10 stone. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again very soon.

Sincerely, Iwona Kowalczyk Guest Relations Novotel Southampton Everything was fine except when we checked out, the time was 12 noon, we went for a walk and got back to our room at 11.15 to find the maid already in our room And cleaning, she had put our personal belongings out in the hallway, when we challenged her she said she couldn’t speak English but she then told us we still had things in the safe, disgusting.

Breakfast buffet okay but expensive for what it is if not part of a B&B deal. No doubt we will return, being creatures of habit, but despite having sung the hotel's praises over the years, I am now finding it less easy to recommend. Also don’t understand why there is no hand washing facilities in the toilet.
